The first annual
OttawaYoung Playwrights’ Challenge

The young playwrights’ challenge is a component of
GOYA’s new play development program

RULES & CONDITIONS

1. Eligible playwrights must be between the ages of 12 and 19.
2. Submissions must be suitable for production on stage or radio.
3. Both one-act and two-act plays are admissible.
4. Submissions must be neatly typed.
5. A list of characters with description of each must be included.
6. Do not send your only copy of the script. Plays will not be returned.
7. Include a separate page with the following information: Your name, age, address, postal code, telephone number, email address.
8. Collaborative efforts are admissible, but no more than one prize will be given to each winning script.
9. The adjudicators of the challenge are all practising artists and theatre critics who will give feedback to the submitting playwrights.
10. The top three scripts will be workshopped and given a public reading.
11. The winning playwrights will receive a plaque and cash prizes of $150, $100, and $75.
